Sítio Rocinha is located in the city of Pedralva, in the Mantiqueira de Minas (Geographical Indication) region, with coffee crops varying from 1100 to 1450 meters of elevation.
The region is privileged in having ideal conditions for coffee production with exceptional climate, mountainous topography and rich soils.
The property was acquired in 1962. The family began growing coffee in 1970 and after 45 years still maintains the tradition. Mr. Oliveira and his wife passed on not only their knowledge but also their passion for coffee to their son, Demetrio, who is proud to work with his father today.
They have done an excellent job of always keeping their focus on quality. The farm is also committed to sustainable coffee production with good agricultural practices and preservation of natural resources.
The producer is a member of COCARIVE (Carmo de Minas Cooperative – www.cocarive.com.br), which supports members at all stages of production.
The harvest is done manually over cloths in order to avoid the beans coming into contact with the soil.
It is dried on cement patios and can, if necessary, go to a dryer during the final drying stage to reach the ideal humidity level. After drying, the coffee is taken to wooden granaries to rest for a period of at least 30 days.
Finally, the coffee is processed and deposited at COCARIVE, where there is a team of professionals responsible for cupping, preparing and commercializing the lots.
