I was born the 15th of February of 1978, I being settle my entry life in the village San Isidro, municipality of Acevedo (Huila) and I being dedicated to the production of coffee. I declare myself a fan of growing coffee because I have found in coffee my family stability despite the ups and downs of economy due to prices, my beginnings as a producer were beside my parents and brothers and for about 16 years as an independent producer on the farm “El Cedro” where I established my home with my family, my family members: My wife Alexandra and three children Vanessa Alexandra, Karol Dayan and Faiber Ivan.
My farms is 6 hectares, from which 4.9 are cultivated in coffee and 1.1 is natural reserve, at the moment 70% is planted with rust resistant varieties Castillo and Colombia varietals and the 30% left is caturra variety. My farm is located very close to a Wood of “roble negro” that is an species of a native tree almost extinguished, but that right now is protected by the community because they are defensive to the rivers that are supplying water to the whole community surrounded.
I have characterized as being linked to the leadership in my community, as part of the directives of San Isidro Associative Group, delegated of the cooperative of coffee growers of Huila – Cadefihuila, contributing to programs that are developed to improve the quality life of the farmers in our region.
Our main life project is to educate our three children to take advantage of every opportunity to grow professionally and where appropriate apply their knowledge in helping the development of our community, also to finish the conversion of our coffee into rust resistant varieties in order to increase our productivity and continue on improving the recollection and coffee processing to improve much more the issues of safety and quality coffee produced in our farm El Cedro.
