| History
He started as a coffee grower in his father's farm. Then, 25 years ago, he bought his own farm (La Palmita). His family is formed by his wife and 5 children. His family is committed with the quality in the production. The farm is located in the hills of the Eastern Cordillera, with an excellent environmental offer. May and June are the most rainy months in the year. The farm is 2 hours away from the municipality of Colombia. He is a member of the Associative Group "El Dorado".
Environmental Care
This area has excellent environmental conditions. The community is concious of the importance of the preservation of the environment, flora, fauna, water sources, soils, etc. Natural forests are predominant and natural sources of fresh water are abundant too. This area is an important biological zone in the middle of the country, so activities such as cutting the trees are not allowed there.
Coffee Processing Information
The farm has relatively new coffee trees. The wet milling process is done with the traditional way. There are tanks for the washing and the drying process is done in the patio of another house he has in the municipality, where the moisture conditions are adequate. The water which he uses in the process has good quality and he uses a minimum quantity. The pulp of the cherries is used as organic fertilizers. He is building a system of filters for the residual water so he can improve the chemical conditions of the water as well as its oxygenation before the residual water goes back to the natural sources.
